The English Premier League (EPL) 2022-2023 season captivated football enthusiasts with its intense competition, prolific goal-scoring, and impactful player transfers.
Manchester City secured the 2022-2023 Premier League league title conceding just 33 goals (10 less than second placed Arsenal) and scoring nearly 100 goals, this combination of defensive resilience and potent attacking play combined with Arsenals late slide in form allowed Manchester City, who didn't top the league until round 32 to pip Arsenal to the title having only led the EPL table for 10 rounds in total. Arsenal will be bitterly disappointed to have let their title hopes slip having led the EPL standings for 27 of the 38 rounds of matches only to let it slip right at the end.
Erling Haaland claimed the Golden Boot as the league's top scorer in his first Premier League season after his high-profile move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City. Haaland amassed a whooping 36 Premier League goal for the season giving him an average of 1.03 goals per match! Harry Kane racked up 30 goals in what turned out to be his last full Premier League season (for awhile?).
At the bottom end of the table, newly promoted Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest equipped themselves well in the Premier League and survived regelation at the expense of Leicester, Leeds and Southampton who were all relegated to the Championship for the 2023-2024 season.
Other high profile transfers in the EPL 2022-2023 season included Darwin Núñez from Benfica to Liverpool, Casemiro joining Manchester United from Real Madrid and Raheem Sterlings switch from Manchester City to Chelsea as well as the move of lesser known Swede, Alexander Isaks who moved from Real Sociedad in La Liga to Newcastle United.
