EPL Top Scorers 2023/24 season
We're coming to that point in this seasons EPL where titles are won, European places are claimed and relegation is decide but one of the hottest contested subplots of the season is the EPL top goal scorers or Golden Boot Award, in short which player scored the most goals in the season.
Who's in the running for EPL Top Scorer 2023 & our prediction?
As expected we have the usual candidates of Erling Haaland & Mohamed Salah who are injury permitting almost guaranteed a 20-25 goal season every season. Haaland having won last years Golden Boot will be eager to top the scoring again in the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Mohamed Salah already with 3 EPL top scorers awards to his name but with recent injury and competition for places at Liverpool might find it hard to reach the 32 goals he managed when he claimed the prize during the 2017-2018 season.
Now this is where it gets interesting, outside of the "usual candidates" this season there's a new group of players who are scoring gaols for fun:
Ollie Watkins has been unstoppable & a massive reason behind Aston Villa's storm to the upper end of the EPL table this season
Dominic Solanke has quietly but consistently been scoring for mid-table Bournemouth.
Bukayo Saka has repeated his free scorer form of the 2022/23 season despite now being heavily marked by all opposition.
Heung-min Son & Richarlison have helped fill the void left by Harry Kane at Spurs but inconsistency will probably mean neither reaching the top of the top scorers list this season.
Cole Palmer has performed consistently for new club Chelsea after is somewhat abrupt move from Man City in the summer and as penalty taker at Chelsea he's clocking up a decent goal tally.
Phil Foden has been electric in recent weeks for Man City and scoring freely & creating chances. He's probably too far off to win the award at this stage of the season but in a well oiled Man City team goal chances will continue to come his way.
Jarrod Bowen is already in double figures for the season but with West Ham having a difficult run of form it might be hard for him to keep up his scoring form.
It's great for the Premier League to have such a hotly contested Golden Boot award for 2023/24 and if you're an England fan it's even greater to see so many England Internationals regularly scoring, especially with Euro 2024 happening this summer.
Our EPL Top Scorer 2023 prediction: Despite this amazing new group of talent we think Erling Haaland will once again top the 2023/24 goal scoring charts come the end of the season.
As an outside bet, we're going for Ollie Watkins.
